We lost one just to gain another

Back in September, we gave out kitten Sophie to my sister. She just didn’t seem very happy at our house. She never purred, or played. She did all of those things at Dottie’s house. I think maybe it was because Dottie had her sister so Sophie had someone to play with. It was kind of a blessing, Sophie used to get litter all over the bathroom where her litter box was and she was putting small holes in the couch up in the Man Cave. These 2 things really annoyed Steve, especially the couch.

While we were at my parent’s house this weekend, my mom told me she was tired of all of the cat hair everywhere in their house. They have Sophie’s brother, a white long haired cat, and my old cat, Nala, a grey short-haired cat. I got Nala 7 years ago when I lived in an apartment in Harlingen. When I moved back in with my parents, she didn’t take it very well. She didn’t like sharing her living space with dogs. When I moved up here, I lived with my grandparents for awhile and I could not have animals so I had to leave her behind. My parents grew attached to her so I never moved her up here with me. The cat hair my mom is referring to is not Nala’s, it is the white cat’s hair but she decided she did not want cats anymore. She told me that she was going to take them both to the pound if she didn’t find them a home by the end of the month. Not wanting to lose Nala to strangers, Steve and I decided we would bring her home with us.

The drive was interesting to say the least. Keeping her and Gizmo apart was tough. Nala hated the kennel as it was and would growl whenever Giz would get close. The transition has gone fairly well though. Sunday night she pretty much stayed under the bed but she is started to venture around the house more and more now. I love having her back. I had forgotten how much she likes to snuggle. So far she has kept her litter in her box and hasn’t put any holes in the furniture and hopefully it stays that way!
